Sarah Kyalo, MSW, LICSW
Hi. Neurodivergent, queer human here. Therapist in a virtual setting.
Noticer. Connector. Side-quest enthusiast.
To anyone who’s been told or wondered if you’re “too much,” “extra” (as if that’s a negative thing), feel like you “need” to contort yourself in particular situations, “tone it down” or mask in spaces that seem to expect something different from you…
I see you. That kind of constant monitoring and adjusting can be exhausting.
This is a space where you don’t have to do that.
You don’t need the “right” words.
You don’t need to show up in a particular way.
There’s no expectation to “stay on topic.” In fact, “side quests” are welcome. Feel free to follow the magic.
When we meet, you can pause, pivot, or go in a completely different direction at any time.
You set the pace. Always.
I’ll help you notice what’s happening in those moments—
and support you through it, not push you past it.
Don’t want to talk? Don’t. There’s a lot we can do together without talking.
Want to sit on the floor or walk around your space? Go for it.
Unmade bed behind you? Come as you are.
Need to make your lunch or reheat your beverage 4 times? Right with you.
Need a body double to finally start the thing? I’m in.
Here’s how I will show up. I will:
- hold space and be alongside you
- gently reflect what I notice
- connect dots and possible patterns
- cheer you on
- and sometimes, I’ll check in on your capacity for more direct “real-talk.”
We can meet wherever you are, literally (remember, sessions are virtual).
You don’t need to be less.
You just need to show up.
We’ll take it from there together.
How I Work
I work with adults, especially those exploring identity, burnout, masking, or how their brain works.
My approach is trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and collaborative. I draw from person-centered therapy, CBT, strengths-based work, IFS-informed perspectives, and expressive and play-based approaches. I hold the impact of systems, identity, and lived experience in the room. You don’t exist in a vacuum, and I won’t treat you like you do.
I support clients with topics like neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism, emotional regulation and sensory needs, executive functioning and burnout, masking, identity exploration and shame, parenting and caregiving, trauma and boundary setting, and spirituality or religious deconstruction.
You might also notice glimpses of my world here, whimsical energy, a love of self-expression, and occasionally my pets making a cameo (with your consent, of course).
Sessions are virtual and flexible. You can show up as you are. Unmade bed, reheated coffee, all of it. We’ll figure it out together.
The details : I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Masters of Social Work with nearly 20 years in social work and experience in school settings since 2012.
I also teach as adjunct faculty in a graduate program.
